Quarter 3: Week 3: 1/19-1/22

Monday: no school

Tuesday: 1. TMZ reports (day 1) by volunteers
2. Introduction to genetics (Ch10 from the text book. see powerpoint below)
3. Review of literary timelines and predictions (If you are doing timelines at home... you'll need to print 2, 1 chart is needed for the actual time line from the book, the other is your predicted timeline (when you wrote your rescue plan last week as NASA). In the boxes you'll write descriptions, and on the lines you'll provide text evidence to support your descriptions.)

Quarter 3: Week 1: 1/4-1/8

Monday: No School

Tuesday: Introduction to "The Martian"

Wednesday: Continued in class reading, explaination of Minimal Annotation Method and notes on how we will use "The Martian" (TM) for in-class science evaluation.

Thursday: Begin using TM to break down our understanding of photosynthesis and analyze for scientific relevance.

Friday: Turn in "The Mark Watney Doesn't Die" Project: Part 1: Photosynthesis in Mars Student Sheet by the end of class.
Receive in class:
1 Pacing Guide for TM and
2 Part 2: Cellular Respiration in Mars Student Sheet

Reminders:
Your copy of "The Martian" by Andy Weir, should be in-class by Tuesday January 12. If you do not come speak to me by Friday, I will assume you will be able to procure a copy yourself and do not need support. Therefore, you will be responsible for the out of class readings after Tuesday January 12. 
Booksellers at Laurelwood will have 2 edition formats available for purchase beginning (hopefully) on Thursday January 7. They will be discounted 20% if you tell them you are getting it for my class at WSHS.
